Shellhoof takes life at its own pace, and its pace is a stroll. It trots when it is excited, tucks in when it is shy and never, ever rushes a snack. It is thoughtful, steady and quietly stubborn, the kind of friend who is always exactly where you left it.

In the game: every Shellhoof hatches as a baby with a pacifier face, becomes a teenager on day two and an adult on day three, about 48 hours in all. Care is bonus growth. Play, feed, warm and nap with your Shellhoof and a stage can shrink from 24 hours to about 4. Hands off is fine too, because pets keep growing while you are away. Once two adults become friends and the friendship meter reaches 75 percent, the mating pen opens. A couple of hours later there is an egg. Steady care suits it well: warm under the blanket, fed to full, and a long nap will carry it through each stage.
